Construction cost estimating · Odoo 19 module or hosted instance

From prime cost to selling price. To the cent.

CostooBTP prices your construction work with the French cost-estimating method, built up from prime cost: site overheads, project overheads, general overheads, profit and contingency. Then it tells you how far a discount can go, before the client asks.

  • The French estimating method, fully delivered
  • Exact decimal arithmetic
  • Odoo 19 module or dedicated instance

First client

Chosen by a construction group in the French overseas territories to replace its estimating spreadsheet.

01Who it’s for

For companies that still estimate in spreadsheets.

They all start from prime cost and broadly follow the same estimating method. CostooBTP keeps that method and adds what a spreadsheet can’t do: share without overwriting, freeze what has been sent, protect costs, decide discounts.

Full access

Management

Sets overhead, profit and contingency rates, decides discounts, tracks the win rate.

Full access

Estimators

Build the estimate from libraries and price grids, read the summary, export.

Read-only

Sales

See jobs and their selling prices, never a prime cost or a margin.

02The method

A method, not a spreadsheet.

CostooBTP ships with the complete French cost-estimating method, the one construction schools teach: from the breakdown of each work item to the selling price. The price comes from a single equation, with no rounding along the way.

  1. Prime cost
  2. +Site overheads
  3. =Production cost
  4. +Project overheads
  5. =Direct cost
  6. +General overheads
  7. =Full cost
  8. +Profit and contingency
  9. =Selling price

9calculation steps, each replaceable on its own to match how you estimate.

0rounding along the way: exact decimal arithmetic end to end.

2access levels: full to estimate, read-only to sell without seeing a cost.

Do you estimate differently?

Site overheads as a percentage or line by line, a coefficient on prime cost or on direct cost, margin tracked as expected profit or as gross margin: every company has its own variations. A specialisation rewrites the step that differs, in its own module, and is checked against your own estimates: the same selling price, to the cent, replayed before every release. The rest of the application doesn’t move.

03Features

All of estimating. Only estimating.

From job to export, every screen helps you set a fair price, then defend it. The quote itself is made in Odoo.

Jobs and revisions

One job, several estimates, each with its revisions and history. A successful estimate becomes a template for the next one.

Work item libraries

Resources and work items with their breakdown: materials, equipment, labour. The source and date of every price stay visible.

Price grids

The rates you keep by destination, range or bracket. Pick a cell, get a priced line.

Summary

Prime cost, overheads, full cost, Kpv and KCR on one screen, every amount explained.

Negotiation

A discount slider and a four-level verdict. You know what you’re giving away before you give it.

PDF and Excel exports

A detailed internal file, or a client version with unit prices and no costs or margins.

Sent revision, frozen revision

What goes to the client no longer moves: no update or setting changes its amounts. Only its discount can change, and every change is logged.

Statistics

Won, lost and cancelled estimates: your win rate over the period, by count and by value.

Read-only without costs

Sales staff see selling prices, never a prime cost, a margin or a discount. The server refuses them; the screen doesn’t just hide them.

04Negotiation

The client asks for a gesture. You already know how far to go.

Every discount comes out of the provision for profit and contingency: first from expected profit, then from the contingency allowance. CostooBTP places every agreed price on one of four levels.

1and above

At price

The agreed price meets the theoretical price of the estimate.

2to 1

From expected profit

The discount eats into profit; contingencies stay covered.

3to 2

From contingency

Expected profit used up, contingency allowance eaten into.

Below 3

Selling at a loss

Below full cost: the job loses money.

Below the theoretical price, the application reminds you that the provision for profit and contingency is a management decision.

05Deployment

Your server or ours. Your choice.

Same application, same calculations, two ways to use it: in your Odoo 19, or on an instance reserved for you, hosted and administered by the publisher.

On your server

Odoo 19 module

Running Odoo 19, Community or Enterprise? CostooBTP installs like any other app.

  • Your estimates stay in your database, on your server
  • You manage your accounts, access rights and backups
  • Odoo Community modules only: no dependency on a paid edition
  • OPL-1 licence
  • Installed and updated by MP-i or by your Odoo partner, as you prefer

On ours · single-tenant SaaS

Hosted instance

Nothing to install: a browser is enough. We host, back up, update, and keep the admin keys.

  • An instance and a database reserved for you, hosted in France
  • Accounts created by the publisher, two-factor authentication for everyone
  • An encrypted backup every day, on a second server; restore tested every month
  • API link with your Odoo 18 or later: catalogue, stock, quotes, status V2
Request my instance

So, is it SaaS?

Yes, in the proper sense: the software is hosted and run by the publisher, and you use it online. With two differences that matter: your instance is shared with no other company, and the publisher keeps the admin keys. Nobody gets an account without going through us.

06Security

Your costs stay yours.

Your costs and margins are your most sensitive data. The application is built so they don’t leave.

Two-factor authentication

A code at every sign-in, from an authenticator app or by email.

Rights enforced by the server

The read-only level receives no cost, changes nothing, exports nothing.

Frozen revisions

A sent revision keeps its amounts, whatever happens to the settings.

No outbound calls

No CDN, no remote fonts, no trackers: the application calls no one but the mail server.

One instance per clienthosted instance

Separate database, accounts and settings, hosted in France. Nothing is shared.

Encrypted backupshosted instance

Every day, on a second server, kept for seven days, four weeks and six months; restore tested every month.

08FAQ

Questions we get asked.

Ask yours
Is CostooBTP SaaS?
Yes, for the hosted instance: the software runs on our servers and you use it online. Each client has its own instance and its own database; the publisher creates the accounts and keeps administration. If you’d rather run it yourself, CostooBTP also installs as a module in your Odoo 19.
Do we need Odoo?
Not for the hosted instance: it runs on its own. Yes for the module, which installs in Odoo 19, Community or Enterprise. The link with your Odoo 18 or later, for quotes, comes in V2.
Does CostooBTP make quotes?
No: it estimates. It produces the selling price, the room for discount and a client version of the estimate as PDF and Excel. Quotes, VAT and terms stay in your quoting tool; in V2, each revision creates or updates its quote in your Odoo.
We don’t estimate quite this way.
That’s true of almost every company. A specialisation rewrites the step that differs, in its own module, and is checked against your own estimates, to the cent. It is quoted separately.
Where is our data?
With the module, in your database, on your server. With the hosted instance, in a database reserved for you, hosted in France, backed up every day to a second server.
Who sees our costs?
Full-access accounts: management and estimators. The read-only level, designed for sales staff, receives no prime cost, margin or discount: the server refuses them.
Can we bring our existing libraries?
On delivery, libraries are empty. You enter your resources and work items, or we migrate your existing prices as an integration service, quoted separately. In V2, your Odoo products come down into them.
Is the application available in English?
Instances run in French by default; an English interface is available on request.
Can we work offline?
No: CostooBTP needs an internet connection.
How much does it cost?
Pricing is by quote. It depends on the option, module or hosted instance, and on any adaptation of the method to the way you estimate. No per-user licence: with the hosted instance, only hosting scales with the number of users, which sets the server’s resources.

09Who’s behind it

A publisher you can call.

CostooBTP is designed, developed and hosted by MP-i, the company of Mattieu Pottier, an independent Odoo developer based in Cayenne, French Guiana. MP-i also publishes GeoLeaf Suite, mapping modules for Odoo. You talk directly to the person who writes the code.
